A number of New Testament-era Christian writings were not included in the final version of the Bible that we have come to know. These are often referred to as the Gnostic Texts although there are also modern authors and practitioners of the Gnostic traditions. This introductory lecture will give you a chance to learn about the history of these writings and some of their basic tenets.
For those who want to delve deeper, Nancy will also be teaching Ancient Wisdom – Personal Truth: A Consideration of Gnostic Texts, a six-week course of study and contemplative practice using these texts. The series will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8 PM from January 19 – February 23.
