Get Your Own Individualized Angel Portrait w/  Susan Walter
Coming to HBS on February 23-24

At the age of 4 and again at age 6 during life saving surgeries, I had what would now be called ‘near death experiences’. Though at that age I did not have the words to explain what I had experienced, and can’t say it went over well with my parents in rural Iowa in the 1960’s. During those experiences I was introduced to some of my own angels, in the most beautiful garden I have ever seen or experienced where I was accepted for exactly who I am without expectations.

After these experiences I was able to see my angels all the time, they have been my friends and my guides ever since. It didn’t take long to learn it was best not to talk about my experiences or what I saw and it just became such a normal art of my life I just assumed that others had them same capabilities. My life was what I thought of as normal, I married and had 4 great kids. Living the life and doing all the things we are expected to do as Wife and Mother.

Life continued to be normal until January 1997. To be honest I am not sure how or why it happened but I noted I was seeing more angles than I ever had before, it didn’t take long to understand that I was now seeing the angels of everyone around me. I was asked, maybe told is a better word, to use this gift to draw what I was seeing to help others connect with their angels.

To say I was not an artist is an understatement, I had wanted to be an artist as a kid when I learned I was born the same day as Michelangelo. Over time to make day to day life easier I learned to turn the volume down a little, allowing me to see others angles as clouds of color that is constantly moving similar to a snow globe. I have also learned to use photos to see the angels with others as long, as I can see their eyes, allowing me to help as many people as possible to make the connection with their angels.

I have continued to expand my artistic abilities and in 2010 started playing with mandalas. In 2011 I was introduced to the Solfeggio frequencies and ask to create mandalas for 6 of the earthly frequencies. Being who I am this peaked my curiosity and I started doing research  and learning there is actually 81 frequencies, 9 sets of 9, to assist us through our evolutionary development, each set of the frequencies assisting us along on each step of our journey of growth and expansion. Each set taking us and assisting us in the next level, dimension or frequency.

As I continue to work and create the Solfeggio mandalas, I understand my connection with the frequencies on a deeper and deeper level with each mandala. And during a spiritual experience a couple years, I was shown life times spent not only working with the Solfeggio Frequencies and the crystal singing bowls during times of great change on our planet, but also as one of the Guardians of the Solfeggio.

Christopher Penczak Workshop – The Mighty Dead

Category: New News, Speaker in the Spotlight
Author: heartbodyandsoul

Traditions across the world honor and recognize the sanctified dead, not just the ancestors of flesh and blood we knew in life, but the ancestors of our spiritual traditions who died in a state of alignment and union with the divine. Known as the Bodhisattvas, Saints, Secret Chiefs, Ascended Masters and Inner Plane Adepts in other traditions, Witches know our ancestors as the Hidden Company, the Mighty Dead of our Timeless Tradition in the Nameless Art. In truth, they are the guiding principles of our modern tradition, as inner world priests and priestesses to the gods. They consist of our elders in the modern and ancient world, united in the ecstatic dance of the Witch’s Sabbat. In this workshop, you will come to understand the nature of the Mighty Dead and how to work directly with them for your own healing and evolution, and your work in the worlds of flesh and spirit, how to work with ancestral altars, oracular skulls, and spiritual merging; and learn to find guides, teachers, healers and partners within the order of the Mighty Dead. Cost is $30. NOTE: Christopher’s workshops always sell out, so register early AND pay in advance to ensure you have a seat!

Christopher is a Witch, teacher, writer and healing practitioner. His practice draws upon the foundation of both modern and traditional Witchcraft blended with the wisdom of mystical traditions from across the globe as a practitioner and teacher of shamanism, tarot, Reiki healing, herbalism, astrology and Qabalah.

He is the founder of the Temple of Witchcraft tradition and system of magickal training based upon the material of his books and classes. He is an ordained minister primarily serving the New Hampshire and Massachusetts pagan and metaphysical communities through public rituals, private counsel and teaching, though he travels extensively teaching throughout the United States.

Astrology 101 Series

If you’ve ever wondered what the stars know about you that you don’t, you might want to stop in at HBS on Saturday, July 15 for the first of a 4-part Introduction to Astrology series with Lexi Huff.  Over the four workshops that make up this series, Lexi will be explaining the signs, the planets, astrological houses and planetary aspects — AND give you the chance to not only review and interpret your OWN chart, but also to put your new understandings to use by reviewing someone else’s!  If you already have your chart, bring it with you.  If you’ve never had one prepared, e-mail Lexi at showmeastrology@gmail.com before the first class and she’ll prepare one for you.  Cost for each class is just $20, but seating is somewhat limited so to be SURE you get to take advantage of this opportunity, best to call and reserve your seat.

What if you can’t make the first workshop but want to attend the others?  (Which by the way are on August 19, September 16, and October 21)  No problem, assuming seats are still available. Lexi is teaching each class as a stand-alone workshop so take advantage of the ones you CAN attend even if you can’t make them all.

Eclipse Basics

In case you’ve been living in a cave and haven’t heard, August is the month CoMo gets to experience a full solar eclipse — KIND of a rare event.  If you’d like to hear a bit about the astrological and metaphysical energies that come sweeping along with a solar eclipse, mark your calendar to attend the Coffee & Conversation on Saturday, August 19 (10:30-11:30 am).  Lexi Huff will be leading the discussion that day on All Things Eclipse-related, so you can be prepared to ride the tide with the best of them.

Natal Charts, Solar Return Charts, Couple’s Charts, & more….

If you’d like to dig deeper,  some one-on-one time with astrologer, Lexi Huff, may be just what the metaphysician ordered.   Lexi is doing astrological readings at HBS the first and third Thursday of each month starting August 22.  Each reading is $60 and lasts for one hour.  She can walk you through your very own Natal (Birth) chart, show you what the stars have to say is coming up for you THIS year with a Solar Return chart (always cool to do around your birthday) or yes, even do a couple’s chart with you and your sweetie so you can finally understand WHY s/he insists on being so ___________ [fill in the blank].   To schedule a reading, call HBS at 573-777-6771.  You’ll need to provide your birthdate, time, and place at the time you make your appointment so she can prepare your chart in advance of your reading.

Books, Books, and yes, more Books …

And whether you’re a lifelong astrologer yourself or brand new to the topic, we have books you WILL want to check out. Just a few on the list include:

The Zodiac by Degrees

Kacy is leaving us … :-(

Kacy Howell is leaving HBS!   🙁

Kacy Howell, who has been a part of Heart, Body, & Soul since not long after we opened — first as a regular customer and then as staff — is heading off to North Carolina to start a new adventure.  (Apparently she took all the talk around here about the importance of pursuing your dreams to heart and is actually DOING it, to our chagrin!)  Her last day at HBS will be this coming Wednesday, June 28, so if you want to say your good-byes and wish her well on her next chapter, be sure to swing by!!

(And yes, this also means that the New Moon monthly series she was leading will be cancelled.  But she WILL still be available to offer astrological insights long-distance.)

The Crystal Grid Experience is Coming Back!

Category: Coffee & Conversation, New News
Author: heartbodyandsoul

If you love the energy of crystals and want to explore more — or you have no idea what all the hoopla about the energy of crystals is about and would like to find out — you’ll want to mark your calendar for July 22 & 23rd.  Lynn Wobig, the resident Crystal Healer at HBS, will be leading a Coffee & Convo on Saturday morning, July 22, talking about the power and purposes of crystal grids as a lead-in to the next day’s chance to come experience them for yourself!

We will have 10 crystal grids laid out in the Studio, each surrounding a yoga mat and large enough for a person to lay down inside.  The crystals for each grid will be chosen to boost a particular kind of energy — e.g. Strength, or Joy, or Creativity.  Each hour, we will usher in 10 people who will get to rotate through each of the grids, spending 5 minutes soaking up the energy of each grid before moving on to the next one.  As those who’ve had a chance to do this before will tell you, the energy from these grids can blow you away.

Space IS limited though, so advance registration is strongly encouraged.  If you get lucky and happen to show up for a round that isn’t already full, we’re happy to accept walk-ins, but if you want to make SURE you get to experience the power of these grids — and why wouldn’t you?? — you’ll want to call ahead and reserve your space.  The Coffee & Convo is free and the Crystal Grid Experience is just $15.

Hope to see you all there!

Better Living Through Bucket Lists

We started out resolved.  Really we did.  Much like the will-powered New Year’s Resolutions we were going to talk about at our final Coffee & Conversation of the year.  But let’s face it – even the title showed our ambivalence:  New Year’s Resolutions – Yay or Yuck??   Sure enough, we wound up ditching the conversation topic about as quickly as we ditch our New Year’s Resolutions.

Instead, we chose to spend the last day of 2016 talking about Bucket Lists – what do you want to do or experience before you kick the bucket.  The stuff you’re passionate about, the stuff you daydream about.  The FUN stuff.  The meaningful stuff.  The stuff you’ll look back upon when you’re on your deathbed with a smile and fist pump of satisfaction.

Let’s face it, sticking to a diet or losing X number of pounds by D-day – not even close to bucket-list worthy.  Nobody on their deathbed sighs with satisfaction over their fastidious calorie-counting.  But a life filled with vibrant energy and health?  THAT’s bucket-list worthy.  So here’s an idea:  ditch the diet goals and put Vibrant Health on your bucket list instead, along with all the other things you want to check off in this lifetime:

  • Follow the Natchez Trail
  • Go to the Rose Bowl Parade
  • See at least one game in every professional baseball stadium in the country.
  • Go to Scotland.
  • Develop a core group of good friends I can relax around and just be me
  • Vibrant health.
  • Learn to speak French
  • Write that book.

Screw the resolutions.  They only mock our inability to stick to them, leaving us feeling like failures because we only made it to the gym once this week instead of the resolved three times a week. Who needs that??  So what if we really, REALLY enjoyed the rum balls at the office Christmas party??  We also went sledding with the kids until we were all breathless with laughter and pink with the cold against our cheeks.  We treated ourselves to a deliciously relaxing gentle yoga class.  We took a walk through the park over the lunch hour and laughed out loud watching the squirrels chatter and chase each other, created a delicious dinner of locally grown produce we had a blast picking out at the Farmer’s Market  AND shared the recipe with our tribe of awesome friends.  Or we have really talented friends who enjoy creating delicious dinners that we enjoy sharing.  (Some of us, as we have previously pointed out, are really good at NOT cooking and we claim that.)

Vibrant health?  Check.

No failures here.

Have a blessed and bucket-list worthy 2017!

Heart, Body, & Soul has a free coffee & conversation gathering every Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30 am.  We provide the coffee, herbal tea, yummy munchies, and the topic.  YOU provide the conversation.  Up this first month of the new year for those of you interested in dropping by to join us, include Energy Fields & Chakras (Jan 7), Vision Quests (Jan 14), Reiki (Jan 21), and Tarot (Jan 28).

Happy New Year!?

Category: Blog, New News
Author: heartbodyandsoul

20172017 is upon us!  Some of us are happy to bid 2016 farewell and welcome the arrival of the New Year with open arms.  Others of us may be feel like we’re being dragged kicking and screaming into 2017.    Either way it’s coming — so what can we do to make it the best it can be??  We have some ideas for you, starting with closing out 2016 right.  HBS is closed New Year’s Day, but we ARE open New Year’s Eve, so before you go out to begin your celebrating (or mourning as the case may be), consider these:

  • New Year’s Eve Tarot Readings   Want some insights into what 2017 might hold in store for you?  Come get a New Year’s Eve Tarot Reading w/ visiting reader, Chazrick Sidhe.  Just $15 for 15 minutes of guidance and insight.  If you’ve never had a reading with Chaz, you’ll want to take this opportunity, so give us a call and reserve the time slot of your choice.
  • What’s on Your Bucket List?  We’d originally planned to spend our Saturday morning Coffee & Conversation on New Year’s Eve talking about New Year’s Resolutions — but let’s face it, resolutions always have that ‘grit-your-teeth-and-DO-it-already-dammit’ feel to them … with deadlines and failures and baggage.  Who needs ’em?!?   On the other hand Bucket Lists are our ‘WANNA-DO’s’ and we firmly believe in paying more attention to those.  So give some thought to what’s on your list and come join the discussion!  You may get some great new additions to your list or your list may inspire someone else.  Either way, it’s bound to be an interesting and uplifting discussion.

And once the New Year has officially begun, we have some new events that can help you make the best of it.

 Coming up in January, 2017:

  • Embrace Your Psychic Abilities:  If you’re an empath struggling to shut out everyone else’s thoughts & emotions, have spirits showing up you don’t know what to do with, or just know things you don’t know how you know (!?),  you may want to check out this new 8-month apprenticeship with psychic and shaman, Paula Curry starting January 10.  The class meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6:15-8:15, continuing through October, with monthly payment plans available.
  • Crystals for Manifestation:  Want a boost in making that Bucket List come true? Crystal Healer and founder of Imaginetics Quantum Crystal Healing, Lynn Wobig will be teaching another in her popular Crystals 101 series on January 14.  This time she’ll be focusing on  Stones for Manifestation.  (And no, you don’t need to have attended the previous classes in the series to participate.  Each class is a stand-alone workshop.)  ‘Cause who of us can’t use all the help we can get??
  • Taking Care of YOU:  Seems like ‘YOU’ is the last person you have time to care for, right?  But then there’s that old “secure your own oxygen mask first’ adage, which does have a lot of truth to it.  How about you let us give you a hand on that?
    •  Supporting Your Chakra System.   Adrian Campbell can give you lots of good tips on keeping your chakra system in top shape in this workshop the afternoon of January 7.   Know nothing about chakras?  No worries! Come by a little bit earlier for the 10:30 am Coffee & Conversation that same day and sit in on a conversation with Adrian on Personal Energy Fields & Chakras.  You can always decide to stick around for the workshop afterward, if you find yourself intrigued and eager to learn more.  (But just a suggestion — go ahead and set the afternoon aside because after you hear her talk?  You’re gonna wanta take her workshop.  Just sayin’!)
    • Boosting Your Winter Wellness.   Connie Jacoby, the founder and wise woman behind Wise Woman Botanicals is back with another workshop on working with essential oils.   This time, she’ll be talking specifically about how to use essential oils to battle winter colds and crud.  Sunday afternoon, January 22.  (Connie is always a hit, and if you’ve not met her yet, you’ll quickly find out why.  The lady knows her STUFF and is entertaining to boot, so what’s not to love?  Mark your calendar!)
    • Yoga Nidra, Yoga Therapy, Tai Chi.  The usual awesome stuff.  Still available.  Still worth it.
  • Spiritual Growth:  Looking for a way to deepen your spiritual practice and connection this year?
    • Gnostic Texts:  Ancient Wisdom, Personal Truth — Nancy Tanner-Thies will offer an Introduction to the Gnostic Texts on Sunday, January 8 at 1:30 pm,  followed by a weekly contemplative study of several of these ancient texts and the wisdom they still hold for our lives today.   The term ‘Gnostic Texts’ is often used to refer to writings created around the same time as many of the books of the New Testament, but omitted from the version of the Bible officially approved by the Council of Nicea in 300 AD.    The weekly study series will meet on Thursday evenings 6-7:30 pm, beginning January 19, and run for 6 weeks.  Make plans to attend the Intro lecture and then see if you feel called to delve deeper into the topic with Nancy.
    • The Qabala Tree of Life Weekend Intensive — Rachael Mueller of St. Louis will be back, this time teaching a two-day weekend intensive on the Qabala and the Tree of Life.  If you’ve struggled with studying this ancient, but still oh-so-relevant (!!) system on your own (and yes, it CAN be confusing when you first tackle it!) or if you’ve never been exposed to the system at all, but want to know more about it, this weekend is for you.  Rachael is an excellent teacher who can make the most complex stuff easily accessible and understandable — and once you get an understanding of the Tree of Life model, you will be amazed how often its concepts show up in your daily life!!
    • Building a Meditation Practice.   How many times have you thought that you really OUGHT to learn how to meditate?  Well no more reason to put it off!  Hypnotherapist, shaman, (and HBS Affiliate) Candace Kundert will be starting a new Sunday afternoon series on Meditation on January 8.  The group will meet 4:30-6 pm every other Sunday for a total of 6 sessions.
    • Righteous Rituals  Whether you’re  a solitary pagan practitioner crafting your own personal rituals, working with a small circle of friends planning your own Sabbat celebrations, or a priest or priestess in your tradition planning for coven gatherings or public rituals, this crash course on ritual-planning may just what the spirits ordered!  Taz Mma Chance, High Priestess of the First Temple of the Craft of Wica and community pagan leader will be teaching the workshop on Saturday, Jan 21, 1-3 pm.  Always more to learn and great ideas to steal!
    • Imbolc / Candlemas Ritual Celebration — We hold open seasonal celebrations here at HBS, attuning ourselves to the turning of the Wheel of the Year with ritual gatherings.  Most of them are drawn from Celtic traditions but folks of other traditions and paths will often find familiar overtones or elements, as so many varied traditions have borrowed from one another and blended together over the passage of time.   This celebration, held the evening of Sunday, January 29 starting at 6:30, is probably where Groundhog Day came from!   Both are times to pause and peer hopefully into the wintry night for reassurance that Spring does in fact lie ahead, buried beneath the snow though it may be.    So maybe we should call it our Imbolc / Candlemas / Ground Hog Day Ritual Celebration?
  • Conversation:  Or do you just want to gather together with people interested in talking about IMPORTANT and INTERESTING stuff — like the meaning of life and why and how we exist in this Universe??  Yeah, us too!!  Check out your choices here:
    • Saturday Morning Coffee & Conversation:  Already mentioned it above, but it bears mentioning more than once.  Every Saturday morning at 10:30, we host a Coffee & Conversation.  We provide the coffee, folks contribute goodies, and everyone who wants to, contributes to the conversation.  (Yes, you CAN show up and just listen, too.) We have a topic of the day and a facilitator of the discussion to pose interesting questions and make sure we don’t ramble entirely off track.  This month we’re talking about:
      • Personal Energy Fields & Chakras, Jan 7
      • Vision Quests, Jan 14
      • Reiki, Jan 21
      • Tarot, Jan 28
    • The Tao Discussion Group— facilitated by the ever-welcoming Nicole Wei, you don’t need any previous experience with or understanding of The Tao to come join this group discussing this ancient text and its applicability to our daily lives.  They meet the 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month, 2-4 pm, but because we’re closed on the 1st this month, they’ll only be meeting on January 15 this month.  Back to their regular twice-monthly scheduled in Feb.
    • Science & Metaphysics Discussion Group —  This is the place for those of you looking for a spiritual practice that appeals to mind and intellect as well as to heart and soul.   Facilitated by Dr. Kay Fair, the group meets at 4:30 pm on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
    • Hearthfires Pagan Meet-Up Group — a gathering of followers of pagan paths in the mid-MO area, you’ll find them at HBS the second Tuesday of each month, 6:30-8 pm.
  • Just for Fun:  Just wanta put all the serious stuff aside and have a fun afternoon with friends??  Well, laughter IS the best medicine.  So gather them together and come make yourselves some awesome bling in one of HBS’s Jewelry-Making Workshops with Addie Clomax.  HBS provides all the tools and materials — gemstone beads and sterling silver fastenings (so we’re talking PRETTY bling here!) Addie provides all the know-how to walk you through creating your own personal brand of fab and you and your friends provide the creative camaraderie. Sunday afternoon, January 15 from 1-4 pm.  What better way to spend a wintry day??  (Well, okay, an adult beverage by the fire would be nice, too, but you can’t do that ALL winter.  So try this for a break!)
