What a treat we have in store for you! Jabberwocky Studios’ Julie Staveley-O’Carroll will be here for two evening workshops in which you’ll find yourself dancing to traditional West African music from Guinea AND you’ll get to dance to LIVE drumming by an AMAZING community drummers.

COST: $15/one workshop or $20/both

NOTE: Wear bendy clothes!  You will be moving your body to traditional Guinea rhythms!!

ABOUT JULIE STAVELEY-O’CARROLL

Julie has been studying Guinea style West African dance for over eighteen years. She began dancing in Lancaster, PA where she was a member of N’Bonye Dance and Drum Ensemble. Later she moved to Charleston, SC and performed with WOSE of Charleston. Julie travels to Guinea to continue her study of Guinea dance; and she continues to study with many great artists, including her favorite teacher Youssouf Koumbassa. Julie is part of the force behind Wontanara, a non-profit that provides African culture educational outreach within the CoMO community through dance and percussion classes, performances and workshops, and collaborations with African community members and the University of Missouri School of Percussion.
